Lavender Blueberry Martini

Tomorrow is National Martini Day and in celebration, Unconditionally Her wanted to share a lovely cocktail recipe we first found on Food and Wine. We took their recipe and made a few changes. We also found at a Farmers Market a lavender sea-salt mix we used for the rim. The salty taste balanced the sweetest of the martini. It might take a moment to make this cocktail, but with National Martini Day, we promise you it’s worth it.
Lavender Blueberry Martini
3/4 pound blueberries
1 cup Simple Syrup
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce Contreau
Ice
9 ounces vodka
4 1/2 ounces fresh lime juice
1 1/2 ounces Lavender Syrup (available at specialty store or Amazon)
6 fresh lavender sprigs
Fresh dried lavender
Sea Salt
Directions
In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries with the Simple Syrup and lemon juice. Cook over moderately high heat until the berry skins darken, 1 to 2 minutes. Drain the berries, reserving the syrup. In a pitcher, combine the berries, half the syrup and all of the remaining ingredients except the lavender sprigs. Cover and refrigerate until chilled.
Take your fresh dried lavender and mix a generous helping of sea salt. Take the remaining lime peels and use for the rim then dip in the lavender/sea salt mixture.
Shake/Stir the drink and strain into 6 chilled martini glasses.
Garnish with the lavender sprigs.
